KARACHI, Aug 31: Public fancy three-year-old dark bay colt Persian Blue stamped his authority when he galloped to two lengths’ victory over colt Dandy Boy in the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

He was ridden home by jockey Tariq Baran, who made amends of his Independence Day loss. The horse from the stables of Sher Shah Kasi was trained by M. Mazhar.

Bullet Of Arab settled for third further two lengths away while Moon dazzler completed the board.

The earlier race saw Baran powering favourite three-year-old bay filly Blossom to an emphatic five lengths victory to land The Gold Finger Cup.

Owned jointly by Zainab Ali and Kamal Farooq, the filly beat mare Afroze Jehan with ease. Desert Hawk seized third place half-a-length away while Captain Black completed the frame among seven runners following withdrawal of Dragon Heart in the morning declaration.

Two-year-old bay filly Lil Kimm registered her maiden victory by claiming The Upcoming Stakes. Making her second appearance in the four-and-a-half furlongs race, she overcame colt Silver City by three lengths.

They were chased by Crazy and Fatility in the same order.

Apart from day’s best Persian Blue, favourites Royal Loyalty, Chun Chun Chun and Dark Secret also obliged punters with fluent wins.

Eight-year-old chestnut mare Royal Loyalty chalked up her maiden victory under new owner when she got the better of another mare Marista by six lengths under rider Arshad in the opener. She was placed in the last run.

In the next race, Abdul Mutlib piloted four-year-old filly Chun Chun Chun to an impressive eight lengths victory over Mixed Blessing to make it two on the trot.

Jockey Shabbir who was not in his true elements could only win a race when three-year-old bay colt Dark Secret registered three-quarter-of-a-length victory in the concluding event.

Long shot five-year-old bay Invazor surprised all and sundry when he toppled fancied Eager Saint to claim honours in the third race. Owned jointly by Zainab Ali and Iman Ali, Invazor edged Princess Rozi by three lengths with Eager Saint occupying third slot.

Three-year-old dark bay filly Baby John edged Manan Prince by three lengths to win the fifth race. Favourite Remy Martin finished third.

Owners Ismail Shah and Zainab Ali shared four of the eight races amongst themselves.

The next Gymkhana race meeting will be held on Saturday.
