POA slams interference

KARACHI, Aug 30: The general body of the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) which met in Lahore on Saturday in the aftermath of Beijing Olympics debacle has strongly opposed the government’s interference, particularly regards to the National Sports Policy’s clause of two-term and vowed to apprise the Prime Minister in this regard.

“A committee will soon prepare a draft and apprise the prime minister,” a source privy to the meeting told Dawn on phone from Lahore.

“The government’s interference in the POA affairs was against the IOC charter,” said Retired General Syed Arif Hassan, who heads the POA and PST.—Sports Correspondent
