Seven killed in fresh Kurram clashes

By Our Correspondent

PARACHINAR, Aug 29: Seven people were killed and 15 others injured in clashes between rival factions in the troubled Kurram tribal region on Thursday night.

Sources said that clashes broke out in Enzari and Alizai areas of the Lower Kurram when an armed group attacked the positions of the rival group.

Heavy weapons were used in the clashes.

The fighting has been going on in the area bordering Afghanis-tan for three weeks and over 400 people have been killed so far.

Meanwhile, members of a peace jirga completed talks with the elders of the Turi tribe in Parachinar and left for Hangu on Friday. A jirga member said that talks were underway with representatives of the other tribe in Sadda. The government had set up the jirga to broker a ceasefire in the region.
