Another demo against outages

SHEIKHUPURA, Aug 29: People from different walks of life on Friday staged a demonstration here in front of the main Wapda office against long spells of loadshedding.

The demonstration started from main bazaar and concluded on Lahore-Shargodha Road.

The demonstrators raised slogans against Wapda and blocked traffic on the main road for two hours by burning tyres.

Separately, the residents of Dosehra Ground, Fish Farm, Hinjranwala and Rehmat Colony tore water supply bills distributed by Tehsil Municipal Administration staff, pleading that they were facing a severe water shortage for the last five months. They also tried to attack the TMA staff distributing the utility bills.

“Why should I pay the water bill when I am not getting water for the last five months? I have filed several complaints with the authorities, but to no avail,” says Muhammad Ramzan, who lives in one of the above mentioned localities.
