ISLAMABAD, Aug 28: Unseeded Ariez Elyaas Deen (Malaysia) and fourth seed Vaidik Munshaw (India) will vie for top honors in the boys singles event of the ITF Pakistan International Junior Tennis Championship played at PTF Tennis Complex on Thursday.

Deen created an upset in the tournament defeating third seed Shantanu Rajput (India) in straight sets 6-2,6-3.

Unforced errors by Shantanu helped Deen to confirm the berth for the final.

In the first set Deen built up the lead 4-0 by breaking first and third game of the Indian. The Malaysian won the first set 6-2 playing a consistent game from the baseline. He kept the same pressure in the second set and build up the winning lead 5-1 by breaking third and fifth game of second set. Deen won the second set 6-3.

Vaidik Munshaw (India), in the second semi-final, walloped Michael Siyaguna (Australia) in a well contested two set match. Munshaw won the match 7-5,6-3. Munshaw will face Deen in the final which will be played today.

In the girls singles event Carol Augustine-Benito (Spain) and Luksika Kumkhum (Thailand) advanced into the girls singles.

In the first semi-final third seed Augustine-Benito (Spain) created an upset hammering Nilaya Tarimela (India) in a thrilling three set match.

Tarimela won the first set 7-5 by breaking the eleventh game of the first set. Tarimela build up the winning lead 5-2 (30-15) in the second set.

However, Benito came back good scoring five all by hitting numbers of winners down the lines and cross court.

Benito won the second set 7-5 and leveled the match one set all. In the final set she was in full command playing some powerful shorts winning the final set 6-2.

Fourth seed Luksika Kumkhum (Thailand), in the second semi-final, also created an upset beating second seed Shweta Rana (India) in straight sets 6-2, 7-5. Kumkhum will face Benito in the final today.

S. V. Abhishek / Vaidik Munshaw (India) and Kapur Shikhar / Kunal Anand (India) qualified for the boy’s doubles final.

In the first semi-final Kunal and Kapur created an upset by eliminating top seed Nasir Mushtaq (Pakistan) paring with Michael Siyaguna (Australia) in a three set match winning it 3-6,6-1,6-4 .

Abhishek and Vaidik (India) defeated Rajput and Prithiv (India) in straight sets 6-2 6-2 in the second semi-final.

In the girls doubles semi-final unseeded Saadgi Rajani / Shalaka Manjunath (India) out played fourth seed Nilaya Tarimela / Shilpa Naruka (India) in a close three set match winning it 4-6 6-2 6-4.

Luksika Kumkhum / Peeraya (Thailand) beat top seed Shaweta Rana (India) / Carol Augustine-Benito (Spain) in straight sets 6-3,6-1.
