PARACHINAR: Kurram clashes leave one dead, seven injured

PARACHINAR, Aug 28: The sporadic firing incidents between Turi and Bangash tribes in troubled Kurram Agency left one person dead and seven others injured on Thursday.

The fighting between the two warring factions continued in Inzari, Bagzai, Alizai, Sadda, Khar Kalley, Baleshkhel, Sangina, Karman, Para Chamkani, Pawar, Tangi, Tharimangal, Maqbal and Kang Alizai. Eight persons were injured in different areas and one of them later succumbed to his injuries due to non-availability of life saving medicines.

The Turi tribe announced unilateral truce till Shawal 10 on the request of a tribal jirga on Tuesday after which the incident of firing decreased to some extent.

The local people have demanded of the government to intervene and stop ongoing clashes between the two tribal groups. But despite the government’s deadline the skirmishes still going on in the region.

The main Peshawar road and Tall-Parachinar road has been closed for every kind of traffic for the last ten months. The area has been cut from the rest of the country due to closure of road. People are short of food items and medicine. Power supply is still suspended in upper Kurram even a after a lapse of one week.

The constant closure of main Peshwar-Parachinar road for the last several months has multiplied the miseries of the local people. Apart from crisis of food essentials the shortage of life saving medicines in hospitals had put all and sundry in to troubles.

Patients can be seen dying in hospital while their hapless relatives can do nothing.
