KARACHI, Aug 28: Vice-Chancellor of the University of Karachi Prof Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui on Thursday chaired a meeting to review law and order situation on the campus in the wake of an armed clash between two student groups that left three students dead and several others injured on Tuesday. Tension also forced the KU authorities to keep the institution closed for the following two days.

The meeting decided to reopen the university on Friday but keep the teaching process suspended for the day. It was announced that classes would resume on Saturday.

It said that since the entry passes issued to the students for their vehicles had been cancelled, no student would be allowed to bring in any vehicle till further orders.

Meanwhile, The Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology has announced that teaching will remain suspended on its campus on Friday. However, it said, the administrative offices would remain open.—APP
