Blasphemy accused survives attack

By Our Correspondent

SANGHAR, Aug 27: A man accused of blasphemy survived an attack on the premises of the district and sessions courts here on Wednesday when the attacker’s TT pistol misfired.

Anees Mallah was arrested about a year ago for making blasphemous comments and was on trial.

On Wednesday he was brought from Central Prison Hyderabad to Sanghar for the hearing.

A man named Javed, son of Qadir, followed him from Hyderabad.

Javed pulled out the gun and tried to fire at Anees from point-blank range. He pulled the trigger of the pistol but it misfired.

Police arrested Javed and recovered two pistols from his possession.

The Sanghar police have registered a case against him.
