HYDERABAD Aug 27: While the joint team of Hyderabad and Matiari police remains clueless on the kidnapping of a Sindh government grade-20 official, two more people are feared to have been abducted in last 24 hours.

The two were driving their cars when allegedly kidnapped, as both vehicles were found abondoned from different areas.

Ali Aslam Khawaja and Maqsood Samejo, 19 and 30-year-old, respectivley were said to be latest victims, while police believed the latter staged the drama to extract money from his mother.

Ali Aslam Khawaja was kidnapped while returning home to Mubarak Housing Society after dropping his siblings at St. Bonaventure school, Qasimabad branch on Tuesday. The matter was immediately reported to police. His car bearing registration ABE-847 was found abandoned in Bhan Saeedabad taluka of Jamshoro district on Wednesday.

He had recently passed the intermediate examinations and was seeking admission in a university. His father runs an electronic shop, off Station Road.

No FIR had, so far, been lodged.

While in second instance, Maqsood Samejo was alleged to have been kidnapped while driving his car in Gulistane Sajjad area on Wednesday. His car was also found abandoned near Kalri Baghar Feeder in Kotri taluka of Jamshoro district.

A police source believed that it was not a kidnapping incident but an attempt by Maqsood Samejo to extract money from his mother. “He is making phone calls to his friends and inquiries show calls being made from Qasimabad area”, he said.

Meanwhile, joint teams of Matiari and Hyderabad police remained clueless about Munawar Junejo, Director General Designs, Works and Services Department. However, police had picked up over a dozen suspects.

“Yes we have picked up many suspects and trying to obtain information from them”, said an official but avoided to disclose their identity. He said that the suspects were mostly patharidars. He refused to admit whether any useful information had been obtained. Another source claimed that soon there would be a major headway in Junejo’s kidnapping case but avoided disclosing facts.

A kidnapping case was to be registered at Tandojam police station regarding Junejo, taken away by dacoits on Sunday, while returning home in his official car from Tando Allahyar.
