Adam gears up for A1GP season with stint in Italy

LONDON, Aug 26: A1 Team Pakistan driver Adam Khan is preparing for the new season of A1GP motor-racing with a summer programme of testing and selected European races to keep him race fit and this weekend he topped the time sheets in testing at the Misano race track in Italy.

This dominance follows on the heels of a pole position and a race win at the Mugello round of the Euro 3000 Series.

Adam, linked with the TP Formula team at the end of June, preparing to take part in selected Euro 3000 Series races by testing at the Valencia circuit ahead of two races at the circuit after the test sessions.

In his first race of the Series Adam stood on the podium with a third place finish, an excellent result for his first event. In the second race an opening lap accident put the Pakistani driver out of the race. At the end of the practice sessions ahead of the two Mugello races Adam had posted the quickest lap of the day, setting his time in the morning and then concentrating on race set up in the afternoon.

He took pole for the first of the two races, and followed this with his first victory in the Euro 3000 series. It was always going to be tough for Adam to reach the podium, with the Pakistani settling for a seventh place finish in the second race.

The A1GP season will kick off in Zandvoort, Netherlands on October 4-5, a postponement of two weeks from the provisional schedule due to a delay in the car build schedule. Adam will return to represent his nation for the fourth season of competition in the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport.—Agencies
