DawnNews reporter detained

KARACHI, Aug 26: An anchor and reporter of the DawnNews was detained for six hours by sleuths of an intelligence agency on Monday and was released after rigorous interrogations.

Hasan Abdullah was driving to office from home at around 10 in the morning when his car was intercepted by a black Corolla near the University Road, causing a collision.

Narrating his ordeal, Hasan said that initially he took it for an accident and told the four occupants of the car, clad in white shalwar kameez, that it was their fault. All of a sudden, one of them pointed a pistol at his abdomen, saying “Mr Hasan get into the car”.

Hasan was blindfolded and one of the men told him to hand over his car keys. After having been driven around for 90 minutes Hasan was taken into a house. Throughout his six-hour detention, Hasan was kept blindfolded.

The intelligence personnel dropped him near the new Sabzi Mandi at around 5pm. His car was also there. But sleuths kept his cell phone having 500 contact numbers and family pictures and tape containing interview of Ballach Marri.—Staff Reporter
