Six members of women trafficking gang held

TOBA TEK SINGH, Aug 26: The Kamalia police arrested on Tuesday six more members of an inter-provincial human trafficking gang involved in bringing kidnapped women from Afghanistan, NWFP and tribal areas to Punjab and Sindh and selling them to elderly men for marriage.
One Nasreen, of Sawabi, was recovered by police a day ago when she was being sold to a man and a gang member Wajid was arrested.
On his disclosure, the police arrested six more members of the gang who were later identified as Zaman Khan, of Peshawar, Sarbland Khan, of Charsadda, Zulfiqar, of Chak 554/GB, Samundri, Taj Bibi, of Peshawar, Shaheen Bibi, of Kamalia, and Hanifan Bibi, of Mamoon Kanjun.
A police official said that case had been registered under Sections 371-A, 420 and 327 of the Pakistan Penal Code. He added that raids were being conducted to arrest more members of the gang.
DBA: The District Bar Association (DBA) members observed one-hour token strike here on Tuesday for the restoration of deposed judges.
The strike was also observed by the lawyers in Kamalia and Gojra.
Earlier, a DBA general house meeting was held with president Mian Shoaib Muhammad in the chair which passed a resolution paying tribute to PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif for parting ways with PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari.
The bar announced that two-hour sit-in would be staged on Thursday in all towns of the district.
