Gastroenteritis: four more die

VEHARI, Aug 26: Four people, three of them women, have died of gastroenteritis at Machiwal Town during the last two days.

Reports said Usman, 2, Khalida Bibi, Alam Bibi and Naseem Bibi were admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital where they died.

A visit to various health facilities revealed that the incidence of gastroenteritis is on the rise. DHQ hospital medical superintendent Dr Shahid Saleem said the number of people suffering from the disease was alarmingly high and the health facilities were struggling to make available medicines for the people.

The Machiwal Town, the worst-affected place in the district, has no medical camp. —Correspondent
