Protest for power

By Our Correspondent

OKARA, Aug 25: Hundreds of people took out a protest rally against, what they called, unscheduled and ever-increasing loadshedding here on Monday. Police baton-charged them and stopped them from reaching Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) offices.

People took out the protest rally on GT Road against Lesco in protest against more loadshedding than the approved timings. They said there was no power for nine to 12 hours a day instead of approved six hours.

They chanted slogans against the authority while heading towards Wapda offices situated in the district courts complex. Police, however, tried to stop them from marching on the offices. When the protesters tried to reach the offices, police baton-charged and dispersed them.

THIEVES STRIKE COURT: Thieves stole five power meters from the chambers of lawyers. Thieves also stole two computers from the chamber of Muhammad Aslam Mughal in the district courts complex.

AMP: Both groups of the Anjuman-i-Mozaraeen Punjab (AMP) on Monday observed the 6th death anniversary of tenant Salman Patras who was reportedly shot dead by a law enforcing agency in the military farm village.
