Dacoits kill bus security guard

SAHIWAL, Aug 25: A bus security guard was killed by potential dacoits when he resisted their bid to forcefully board a Multan-bound bus near Harrapa on Sunday night.

The passenger bus had left Lahore for Multan on Sunday evening. When it reached 187/9-L bus stop near Harappa, three men posing as passengers signalled the driver to stop the bus on which he applied brakes. When the bus halted, five more men emerged and they all tried to board the bus forcefully.

Shakeel, the security guard, resisted them and asked them to undergo body search before boarding the bus. This made the potential dacoits furious and they grabbed the 27-year-old guard and later started scuffling with him. Suddenly, a dacoit shot at Shakeel on which he died instantly. Later, all the assailants fled.

The Harrapa police registered a case against unidentified persons.
