MITHI, Aug 25: A large number of people belonging to Bheel community, including women and children, held a demonstration outside the press club here on Monday in protest against what they called excesses of an influential Thakur.

Tejo, Chandar and Ms Kanh among others of Nahare Ji Wandh village alleged that Chahno Thakur who was an influential person of Malanhore Veena village attacked their homes with his henchmen including, Mahado, Mado, Arjun, Ramzan Rind and Ayoub Rind.

They misbehaved with women and children, dismantled their mud-thatched homes, took away valuables and threatened them to leave the village, they said.

Police initially showed reluctance in taking any action against the influential Thakur and his henchmen but later lodged a case under sections 382, 147, 114, 427, 504 PPC against 19 accused including, Chahno, Mahado, Thano, Bhano, Bhamro, Ambo, Velo, Tejo, Dharmo, Mado, Karo, Satidan, Shankar, Ladhu, Ramzan Rind, Chanesar Rind.

FLOUR: There are growing complaints that the chakki owners who had been directed at a recent meeting with price control committee to sell flour at Rs25 per kilogram are charging Rs26 to 27 per kg.

People complained on Monday that no chakki owner had displayed the official price at his shop and urged the district administration to take action against the violators of official rate.
