HYDERABAD, Aug 25: More courts will be established in Sindh, besides starting night courts to decrease the backlog of cases, said Federal Secretary, Law and Justice Division, Justice Agha Rafiq Ahmed Khan.

He told this to journalists after inaugurating the renovated building of the Sessions Courts, on Monday.

Regarding night courts, he said that soon he would visit India to examine their working. He said the present government was providing speedy justice by working on a multidimensional strategy. He said the increase in number of judges in the Sindh High Court was part of this strategy and the present strength of judges might be raised to 40 from 28.

He said the government was committed to improving judicial system by improving the standard of living of judges for which more residential accommodation was being built. He referred to luxury flats in Malir being built for judges, along with raise in their salaries. He said vehicles had been provided to additional sessions and sessions judges and now civil judges would also be provided vehicles.

He said night shift courts would help reduce the number of pending cases while admitting the lawyers’ of affecting the working of courts but since it was confined to only once in a week, the situation had improved.

He said deposed judges would be reinstated as the government was working on its modalities.

SAU: Ten employees of the Sindh Agriculture University observed hunger strike at the campus in Tandojam on Monday to protest against the delay in acceptance of their demands.

Earlier, a large number of employees led by the Chairman SAU Employees Action Committee, Hussain Bux Veesar staged a rally. Leaders of the action committee said that the protest movement will continue till the removal of the university’s vice-chancellor Dr Basheer Shaikh.

Academic activities had come to a halt due to the strike of employees which completed 52nd day. The government had not taken the notice of this strike.
