KARACHI: Efforts on to start first year classes on Sept 15
By Our Staff Reporter
KARACHI, Aug 25: The process of admission to Class-XI in the city’s government colleges under the Centralized Admission Policy 2008-09 (CAP) will be completed by Sept 10 and regular classes will begin on Sept 15, a CAP admission committee member Prof Iftikhar Mohammad Azmi said here on Monday.
“Our effort is to ensure commencement of regular classes on Sept 15 and to meet the deadline, the committee has already started posting data of the admission seekers who have already submitted their forms, although the task is supposed to be undertaken after Aug 26, the deadline for the issuance of the placement forms,” he said.
He said as many as 35,000 placement forms had already been sent to the BSEK for verification of marks sheets and computation of their cases.
Acknowledging that the committee was facing some difficulties in gearing up the process, he argued that the process had begun on Aug 5 with the issuance of placement forms but a large number of admission seekers could not have submitted their forms owing to a delayed issuance of their Matric marks sheets.
Those who have done that matriculation from the technical board and those who have passed their O’level examination have been seeking an extension in the last date for the submission of the placement forms as they are yet to receive their marks sheets, according to Prof Azmi.
With regard to reservations expressed by a particular category of admission seekers over the merit formula noted down in the CAP brochure, Prof Azmi admitted that the formula had been crept in inadvertently. He said that merit for placement of all those candidates who had passed their matriculation from a board other than the Karachi boards would be decided on the basis of the total marks fixed by their respective educational boards. He held out the assurance that nobody’s merit vis-ŕ-vis admission would be affected.
