Seven killed in Kurram clashes

Published August 24, 2008

PARACHINAR, Aug 23: Seven people were killed and 11 others injured as fighting between rival tribes continued in Kurram Agency on Saturday.

Fierce clashes between Toori and Bangash tribes have been going on unabated for sixteen days and hundreds of people have been killed from both sides.

The deadline given by the prime minister’s adviser on interior has expired but the government has yet to take effective steps to stop the fighting, said residents.

A jirga from Hangu went back without any breakthrough as both the tribes involved were not ready to show any flexibility.
