SANGHAR, Aug 23: Seven people, including three policemen were injured when police raided a house at Malhi Paro, Khipro after midnight on Saturday.

According to reports, Khipro police party led by SHO Rasool Bux Thaheem raided the house of Harchand Malhi allegedly for gambling. A scuffle ensued resulting in injuries to SHO, HC Ibrahim Mari, constable Gulsher, Ms Sita, Ms Rekha, Ms Sonia and Sawai Malhi.

Police arrested Rajesh, Nandlal, Khatoomal and registered case against 13 people under the Gambling Act.

However, Senior Vice President, SPSF, Mannu Malhi disputed the police claim and alleged them of entering the house in civvies, while inmates were celebrating Thadri festival.

He further said that instead policemen began manhandling men, women, children and guests. To protect themselves, police had registered a fake FIR. A large number of people gathered at Shaheed Chowk and staged a sit-in to protest the police raid.

Harchand alleged the policemen of taking away a TV set, three mobiles and a gold chain during the raid.
