WANA: Wana-Jandola road reopened

By Our Correspondent

WANA, Aug 23: Political authorities opened the Wana-Jandola road for traffic on Saturday after talks with the elders of the Ahmadzai Wazir tribe of South Waziristan, officials said.

The main road was closed for traffic under territorial responsibility clause of the Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) when miscreants attacked security forces in Tiarza Khula on Thursday night.

After the attack, the administration had closed the road for traffic. Officials said that elders of the Wazir tribe held talks with the political agent, Syed Shahab Ali Shah, and ensured that the forces would not come under attack in their respective areas.

The elders said that the tribesmen would fulfil their legal responsibilities and would not allow targeting forces in the region. The authorities opened the road after the guarantee from the tribesmen.

Malik Mohammad Ali Wazir, a participant of the jirga, said that a delegation of the Ahmadzai Wazir would soon meet NWFP Governor Owais Ahmad Ghani in Peshawar and would ask him to stop frequent movement of ‘spy planes’ over the area. He said that people were feeling insecurity due to movement of the planes and missile attacks.
