2,000 urea bags seized

By Our Correspondent

MIRPURKHAS, Aug 22: The district administration seized 2,000 urea bags while being transported to some undisclosed location by the dealers.

Revenue officials with the help of dealers distributed fertiliser bags among farmers at an official rate of Rs650 per bag to end its shortage in the district.

The EDO Revenue, Ali Ahmed Baloch told journalists here on Friday that the DCO had directed him to help end black-marketing of fertiliser, while overcoming its shortage for which meetings with dealers and representatives of companies were held.

He said around 1.1 million urea bags were required during Kharif season while the supply in August was only 80,000 bags. Representatives blamed low production for the shortage.
