Islamabad’s security beefed up

ISLAMABAD, Aug 21: The capital city security has been beefed up in the wake of two suicide attacks at Pakistan Ordnance Factory here on Thursday.

After the suicide attack the capital police was informed that a suspicious black Toyota Corolla succeeded to enter in the city from Tarnol, the sources told Dawn, adding, that a massive hunt, was conducting in this regard.

Earlier, in a letter issued by the interior ministry before Independence Day, to all the five heads of the capital and provinces police chief, directed to take strict and extra security measures in and around their jurisdictions.

It was issued in the light of intelligence information that terrorist may strike and target the sensitive local and foreign installations, government buildings, diplomats, government officials, and personnel of law enforcers.

After sharing the information the security in and around the country was put on high alert and extra security measures were taken to avoid any untoward incident.

The sources said that the Inspector General of Police Islamabad had brought his sub-ordinates, including, superintendents of police, sub-divisional police officers and station house officers for patrolling and vigilance.

They have also been directed to remain their respective areas till 1:00am. During the patrolling they should keep an eye on suspicious persons and focus on public areas.

Senor Superintendent of Police Islamabad Capt (retired) Ahmad Latif when contacted said the personnel of law enforcers had been deployed at different localities of the city to ensure the security arrangements.

He said that personnel at the pickets in the city had also been reinforced and they were doubled in number. All the entry and exit points of the city put under high vigilance and the personnel have been directed to keep an eye on suspicious people.
