Qalandar’s Urs begins

DADU, Aug 21: The 756th Urs of Qalandar Lal Shahbaz began in Sehwan on Thursday. Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad inaugurated the three-day celebrations by putting floral wreath on the grave and offering Fateha.

The governor was accompanied by Sindh Revenue Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Auqaf Minister Haseeb Khan and Acting Zila Nazim Abdul Hameed Buledi.

Talking to journalists, the governor asked the people to abide by the message of love, peace and Islam of Qalandar Lal Shahbaz.

DEVOTEES DIE: Four more devotees died of suffocation owing to overcrowding in Sehwan on Thursday. The death toll reached to 13 in three days.

The deceased were Mohammad Yousuf, 45, of Doulatpur, Saeed Ahmed, 32, of Alipur, Adil, 5, of Muzaffarabad, Ali Baba Chashma Wala, 50, of Boorewala, and an elderly unidentified person whose body was found from the Degree College Sehwan.

Four bodies were sent to their native towns through Edhi ambulances, while one which remained unclaimed was at the Edhi centre.
