Stray bullet plunges half of Sukkur into darkness

SUKKUR, Aug 21: Almost half of Sukkur city plunged into darkness late on Wednesday night due to oil leakage from the main transformer. The transformer was hit by a bullet during a gunbattle between Jatois and Miranis in Bachal Shah Miani.

An old enmity brought the tribesmen of the clans were at daggers drawn with each other which resulted in the clash. One stray bullet hit the transformer, which resulted in oil leakage and suspension of power supply to half of the city for about three hours.

The Superintendent Engineer grid stations Mushtaq Ahmed rushed to the scene and supervised the repair work after which supply was restored.

ACCIDENT: A woman and a minor girl were killed and 10 others injured in a road accident at Kandhkot bypass on Thursday.

Gul Zadi w/o Akbar Soomro and her seven-year-old daughter Hayatan were going home in a rickshaw. A passenger wagon hit the rickshaw at Kandhkot bypass killing both rickshaw passengers on the spot. However, 10 wagon passengers, including women were injured and shifted to a hospital.
