10-year-old put behind bars on suspicion

By Our Correspondent

LARKANA, Aug 21: A 10-year-old boy of the Shahnawaz Bhutto colony has been arrested on suspicion of being involved in a theft and the Naudero police have been keeping him in an illegal confinement for a week.

Sources told Dawn on Thursday that police had picked up Sikandar Abro about a week ago on suspicion of his involvement in a robbery at a shop of one Manzoor Jarwar.

The boy was in a disturbed state of mind and named different people as his accomplices, local journalists said.

Police had also arrested Insaf Abro and Ghulam Rasool Abro, close relatives of the boy, but later released them when some influential people intervened, the sources said.

Naudero additional SHO Saifullah Bughio said that Sikandar Abro had not been arrested.

However, sources have confirmed that the boy has been kept in a local-up of Naudero police station and some journalists have met him.

The father of the child, Moharram Abro, who is a paralysis patient, told journalists that his son was not involved in the theft case.
