RAWALPINDI, Aug 20: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi bench on Wednesday directed the city police officer (CPO) to register a criminal case against the law enforcers who allegedly picked up a young man ten days ago and his whereabouts were not known.

Justice Mazhar Hussain Minhas issued directive on the complaint of Mohammad Ishaq, a resident of Karak, in which he alleged that his son Mohammad Imran was abducted on August 10 from the shop of his cousin in a commercial plaza on Murree Road.

Making CPO Rawalpindi and SHO New Town as respondents the petitioner through his lawyer Basharat Ullah Khan has invoked the court for the recovery of his 25-year-old son from the custody of the local police as Imran was taken away by Elite Force in the presence of other shopkeepers who have furnished affidavits saying they saw the law enforcers taking away the petitioner’s son.

Assistant Advocate General (AAG) Raja Abid told the court that he contacted the CPO who after gathering information had found no case registered against Imran in any police station of the district and denied that he was in police custody. Lawyer of the petitioner said Imran was taken away in the presence of many shopkeepers by the Elite Force and should be produced in any court of law if he had done anything illegal.
