Inspector, seven others sacked

GUJRANWALA, Aug 19: The deputy inspector general (DIG) has dismissed a police inspector, seven head-constables and a senior clerk from service over corruption here on Tuesday.

DIG Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema received corruption complaints against inspector Mazhar Saeed Manj, head-constables Khalid Mehmood, M. Irshad, Muhammad Afzal, M. Ayub, Qamar Iqbal, Shaukat Ali and Shah Nawaz and senior clerk M Aslam on which he ordered inquires against them. Later, the DIG dismissed them from service when they were found guilty. The DIG also demoted head-constable Ijaz.

DOUBLE SHAH: The local Anti-Terrorism Court No. 1 judge on Tuesday adjourned a financial scam case against Sibtul Hassan Shah, alias Double Shah, till Aug 23 when the prosecution failed to submit the challan of kidnapping for ransom case registered against him.

The accused denied the case registered against him and said that it was fabricated case. He also accused NAB of occupying his six filling stations out of which four were given on contract. He alleged that the entire money was being used by NAB.
