PO gunned down in ‘encounter’

SIALKOT, Aug 19: An alleged proclaimed offender was gunned down by Uggoki police in an ‘encounter’ near Ganjiyaanwali-Roypur road here on Tuesday.

Reportedly, two outlaws were fleeing after looting some locals, when police started chasing them on a tip-off.

The outlaws allegedly opened fire on the chasing police. In ‘retaliatory’ fire by police one of the outlaws was killed on the spot while the other injured seriously. Police arrested the injured outlaw.

According to the police, the killed outlaw was identified as Imran alias Mani, wanted in more than 15 cases of dacoity, robbery, kidnap and murder.

Police have started investigation after registering a case.

CHARAS SEIZED: Satrah police have seized 4-Kg fine quality Charas from a car (LAZ-5828), arresting four alleged drug-peddlers.

A case has been registered against the arrested accused -- Shabir, Mushtaq, Imran and Naseer. Further investigations are underway.

GUTTED: Household items worth Rs0.4 million were gutted in a fire erupting at the house of a fireworks-seller at Sadra Badra village.

Reports said Nawab Maseeh used to deal in fireworks. On Tuesday, the fireworks stock at Nawab’s house went off accidentally, gutting his household.

Some inner walls and ceilings of the house were badly damaged in the fire. However, his family members remained safe. Police are investigating.
