HYDERABAD: Movement of heavy vehicles on highway banned

HYDERABAD, Aug 19: The Jamshoro district government has under section 144 banned movement of heavy vehicles on the National Highway during the three days of the 756th Urs celebrations of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar at Sehwan, starting from Thursday.

Giving details of the Urs programme at a press conference at his office on Monday, Jamshoro DCO Ahmed Bux Narejo said that about 75 acres of land near the shrine had been levelled for parking vehicles, bathing in water channels had been banned under section 144 and emergency had been declared in all the hospitals of the district.

He said that eight mobile medical units would take care of devotees and provide them medical treatment and heavy contingents of police had been deployed in the small town with more than 50 mobile vans to patrol the area to avert any possible trouble.

He said that Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad would inaugurate the Urs by laying a chador at the grave of the great saint, the district nazim would inaugurate an agro-industrial exhibition and Sindh minister for revenue would inaugurate Malakhra in the evening on Thursday.

He said that on Friday, Sindh minister for culture and tourism would inaugurate a literary conference at Shahbaz Auditorium and on the third and last day of the Urs, Sindh chief minister would distribute awards among Sughars, singers and writers and attend a musical programme.

District Naib Nazim Abdul Hameed Buledi, chief administrator of Auqaf Qazi Shahid Pervez and a number of district officials were present on the occasion.
