KARACHI: Another five dengue cases reported

KARACHI, Aug 19: Five more patients with suspected dengue virus reported at different government hospitals in the city during Monday night and Tuesday, raising the number of such cases reported this year to 287.

Focal person of the Dengue Surveillance Cell Dr Shakeel Malik said that one of the patients was discharged from a hospital after his complete recovery. He said 34 patients with suspected dengue virus were still under treatment in different hospitals, along with two confirmed dengue cases.

Meanwhile, the Sindh Government Children Hospital, North Karachi, has set up a separate six-bed ward for dengue patients.

Medical Superintendent of the hospital Dr Asif Zaman said on Tuesday that three beds each were reserved for male and female patients. He said the step was taken in view of the increasing number of dengue patients arriving in the hospital after the recent rains.—PPI
