Fatima quoted out of context: PPP-SB
Bureau Report
HYDERABAD, Aug 18: The Sindh chapter of the Pakistan People’s Party-Shaheed Bhutto said on Monday that Ms Fatima Bhutto had been quoted of context and she had not supported Gen Pervez Musharraf.
The party’s provincial president, Meenhan Khan Rind, information secretary Peeral Majidano and Tufail Ahmed Memon said at a news conference at the press club that the distortion of her interviews, columns and articles was tantamount to maligning her character and making her a controversial figure.
Meenhan Khan said that in her article published in Guardian, Ms Fatima Bhutto had correctly depicted the political situation obtaining in the country.
No doubt she had criticised the present political leadership and said that Pakistan’s options were not the existing corrupt ruling coalition nor army but genuine representation of people to find a way out, which no government had been able to do except the government of Quaid-i-Awam Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, he said.
He said that some elements were trying to make Fatima Bhutto a controversial figure under a pre-planned conspiracy because they were afraid of her rising popularity and political acumen.
