Body exhumed

GUJAR KHAN, Aug 18: A medical board on Monday exhumed and examined a body that was buried as ‘unclaimed’ early last month, officials said.

The police had found the body hanging from a tree on July 1. Hands of the victim were tied behind his back and a piece of cloth was stuffed into his mouth.

Initially, the police were close to filing a case of suicide but later they probed the incident as a murder after the case was brought into the notice of Regional Police Officer (RPO) Nasir Khan Durrani.

After going through a set of photographs taken at the crime scene, the RPO ordered the SHO Gujar Khan to treat the incident as a murder.

A medical board exhumed the body after obtaining an order from the relevant judge. A detailed report will be issued after the chemical examination of different organs. The police said the victim was yet to be identified.—Correspondent
