Rasool shines for KRL

KARACHI, Aug 17: Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) beat Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) 2-0 while Pakistan Steel and Navy played out a goalless draw in Sunday’s two Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) encounters.

The match between KRL and PIA at the Korangi Baloch Stadium saw the winners’ striker Mohammad Rasool scoring both the goals, one in each half. The first one came in the 11th minute when Rasool converted his skipper and fellow striker Mohammad Essa’s pass and the second in the 61st minute off his own solo effort.

The two goals bring Rasool’s personal tally in the tournament to six. The other players to have achieved this feat so far are PIA’s Zeeshan Ali and Shakir Lashari.

Meanwhile at the Pakistan Steel Township Ground, both the home team and Navy couldn’t manage to score any goals although Pakistan Steel missed several chances in the second half.

Monday’s fixtures: National Bank of Pakistan v Habib Bank Limited at Korangi Baloch Stadium at 5.30pm.Karachi Port Trust v Pakistan Television at GDGK at 5.30pm.
