Policemen booked for torture after 3 months

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABD, Aug 17: The New Town police in Rawalpindi have booked an assistant sub-inspector and his subordinates for allegedly torturing a motorcyclist and his friend three months ago, official said.

The victim earlier failed to get a case registered against the accused because they allegedly enjoyed the support of New Town’s station house officer. Mohammad Junaid in his complaint told police that the incident occurred on May 21 when the police officials tortured him, fracturing his hip bone. The victim is still undergoing medical treatment.

Junaid said two motorcyclists in white dress started chasing him and his friend when they reached New Town. On suspicion that they might be robbers, Junaid tried to speed away but lost control of his bike and slipped.

Initially, the unidentified men disappeared from the scene but later returned and took the victims to the New Town police station, where they introduced themselves as police officials.

The police officials registered a case against Junaid and his friend and also subjected them to torture.
