ATTOCK, Aug 17: District Coordination Officer (DCO) Saqib Zafar has directed the district administration and health authorities to launch a drive to stop the sale of narcotics and other medicines at medical stores.

In a press release issued here on Sunday, he said the action had been decided after a pouring in of a large number of complaints regarding the unchecked sale of the narcotics in injection forms.

The DCO presided over a meeting at Hasanabdal in this regard, that was among others attended by the district police officer and district revenue officer.

The DCO warned of a strict action against the persons involved in such illegal business.

Meanwhile, the DCO has directed the district food controller to ensure provision of wheat flour to the people and also keep check over its quality. He asked the DFC to ensure the provision of a 20kg bag of atta at the official price of Rs375.

The DCO said generator of the Tehsil Headquarters hospital would be repaired soon to facilitate the patients in case of loadshedding and power failure.

He directed the patwaries and other revenue officials to resolve the public problems regarding the revenue matters.

He said special measures were being taken to eliminate the menace of corruption form the government departments but, he added, it was not possible without the help of people.

He said people should make complaints at the open meetings being held at all the teshils of the district on the directive of chief minister Punjab.

Two injured: Two persons, including a woman, were injured by their neighbours over a minor dispute at Mohallah New Town here on Sunday.

According to police, the dispute began when the neighbours refused to return a hen, which went missing and found in their house, belonging to the woman.
