US ‘in a fix’ over impeachment

Published August 17, 2008

TOBA TEK SINGH, Aug 16: PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif and PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari will remain isolated and all institutions, including the armed forces, will stand with President Pervez Musharraf if the US supports him.

However, Musharraf will have to resign or reconcile with the coalition government if the US remains impartial in the process of impeachment, a PML-Q lawmaker said here on Saturday.

The US government is ‘confused’ on the issue of Musharraf’s impeachment, MNA Riaz Fatyana told newsmen in Kamalia. He said America’s support to Musharraf would affect its relations with the ruling coalition and its opposition to the embattled president would be considered an act of betrayal.

He said the coalition government had failed to check price hike and unemployment and claimed that coalition partners’ popularity was decreasing day by day.

SHOT DEAD: A brick maker was shot dead by an unidentified man at Teku water channel on Saturday.

Falak Sher was shot dead when he was returning from a brick kiln located in Chak 324-JB, Paira.
