Landing aborted

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Aug 15: The crew and passengers of an Air Blue flight coming from Karachi were panicked on Friday when a PIA-operated vehicle emerged on the runway forcing the pilot to abort the landing at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport.

Air Blue flight ED-202 with over 100 passengers was making the final approach at around 1,000 feet when the pilot was advised by the air traffic controllers to abort the landing and instead go around because of sudden appearance of a tug-master operated by PIA on the runway. The tug-master, which was on its way to a PIA aircraft parked on taxiway C, caused the panic by violating the authorised path.

Civil Aviation Authority later suspended the licence of the tug-master operator and ordered an inquiry into the incident.
