By Iqbal Khwaja

THATTA, Aug 15: The DCO of Thatta Dr Laique Ahmed Memon who is also the chairman of Thatta Historical Society (THS), has called upon historians, writers, poets and intellectuals to coordinate in compiling the facts and figures regarding the heritage of Thatta.

He was chairing a meeting of the society at Darbar Hall Makli here on Friday.

The DCO stressed upon the need for preservation of all relevant records, including manuscripts, relics, penned material and other evidences on the history and heritage of Thatta so that the coming generations could have easy access to their history.

The meeting lauded the decision of the Sindh government for recognising the national heroes of Sindh.

The DCO told the meeting that a committee of experts would be formed to establish contacts with those holding relevant material.

The committee, he said, would also prepare a report to preserve historical sites of Thatta and would also make a documentary on the art, culture and the customs of the district.

He called for installing signboards at old graves and tombs of the great warriors of Sindh.
