RAWALPINDI, Aug 14: The Rawalpindi General Hospital (RGH) was formally renamed as Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Hospital (SBBH) at a ceremony held here on Thursday.

Information Minister Sherry Rehman said the hospital held special importance as Benazir Bhutto breathed her last at the hospital.

She said the government would ensure a bright future for Pakistan as envisioned by Quaid-i-Azam, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto.

Ms Rehman said Pakistan was created after an epic political and democratic movement, adding that the PPP government would steer it to safety and prosperity. “Under the PPP’s manifesto, the government is focusing on the welfare and uplift of the masses,” she added.

She recalled that the PPP had offered great sacrifices and launched heroic struggles for the establishment of democracy and the rights of the people.
