KARACHI: JSM rejects ‘Taliban bogey’ in Sindh

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Aug 14: The Jeay Sindh Mahaz (JSM) has announced that it will not accept any form of colonisation of Sindh and warned those elements trying to harass Sindhis in the name of “Talibanisation”.

A meeting of the JSM, Karachi chapter presided over by its central convener, Abdul Khaliq Junejo, was held here to discuss the current political situation of the province.

It noted with concern deteriorating law and order and the economic conditions of the province in the context of what it called the exploitation of resources of the province.

The JSM leaders expressed their concern over reports that “some groups in Karachi were trying to pose themselves as the custodian of the sovereignty of Sindh.”

They were of the view that only the natives of the province could claim to be the custodians of the sovereignty of Sindh. They said that the Pakhtuns had all the right to opt for a system of their choice but only on their ancestral land.

Similarly, they said that those who had migrated to Sindh for economic reasons had no right to claim sovereign rights in the province.

“It is the birthright of the Sindhi people only to decide the future of the province”, the JSM meeting observed, saying that Karachi was the capital of Sindh and its present status would remain unchanged in the future as well.

Speaking about the elements propagating the bogey of Talibanisation in Sindh, they said that these elements had already shunted out the Sindhis from educational institutions of Karachi and deprived them from employment opportunities.

The JSM meeting demanded immediate curbs on settlements of new colonies in the province

On the issue of Thar coal deposits, the JSM alleged that after controlling oil and gas reserves of the province, the federal government now wanted to control the coal deposits, saying that the Thar coal authority and Thar coal and energy board had been established to achieve this objective.

The meeting was attended by Hashim Khuso, Ayaz Hakro, Anwar Memon, Karim Sindhi, Hosh Mohammad and others.
