HYDERABAD: BISE officials accused of corruption

HYDERABAD, Aug 13: A group of students belonging to the Jeay Sindh Students Federation-organising committee and the Basheer Qureshi group staged a protest demonstration and set up a hunger strike camp outside the press club on Wednesday to protest against alleged corruption of secretary and the controller of examinations of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Hyderabad.

Talking to journalists, JSSF leaders and others said that both the secretary and the controller were working on contract and they were fleecing students on one or other pretext.

The protesters alleged that these officers had appointed their ‘agents’ to extort money from poor students.They demanded immediate removal of corrupt officials and threatened to go on hunger strike unto death at a camp outside the press club from August 16 if their demand was not accepted.

LUMHS: The vice-chancellor of Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Prof Noushad Ahmed Shaikh, has been elected as the president of the cooperative housing society of the university at its first meeting held here.

Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof Azam Hussain Yousfani, Dr Muneer Ahmed Memon, and Dr Mumtaz Memon were elected as chairman, secretary and treasurer of the society, respectively.

An eight-member executive committee has also been elected.
