ISLAMABAD, Aug 11: President Pervez Musharraf celebrated on Monday his 65th birthday at the President’s House along with his family and friends, in what observers here said was message that he was not scared of the threat of impeachment.

Sources in the President’s House told Dawn that the birthday party was followed by another family function -- Menhdi of the sister-in-law of Bilal Musharraf.

The sources said arrangements were also made for a meeting of the president with his allies to discuss preparations for confronting the impeachment motion.

President Musharraf was in a good mood and his body language appeared to be positive, the sources said.

There were instructions in the President’s House and in the President’s Lodge in Rawalpindi to celebrate the president’s birthday with full vigour.

For the Menhdi function, the President’s House was decorated with yellow flowers.

The sources said senior leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-Q and some close aides of the president were to meet him later in the evening.

President Musharraf will take a decision at the meeting whether he should attend the scheduled ‘Salam Pakistan’ TV show to be held on the eve of Independence Day.
