KARACHI, Aug 11: Sindh Home Minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza on Monday directed the inspector-general of Sindh police to take legal action against the organisers of jirgas for the settlement of their disputes.

Taking serious notice of the reports published in a section of press regarding karo-kari, the home minister directed the police officials to take necessary steps so as to eliminate these illegal jirgas.

Mr Mirza also directed the IG Sindh to furnish him with a report about the karo-kari cases registered during the last 10 years and the subsequent action taken by the police in those cases.

He also directed the police high-ups to come up with proposals for the elimination of this menace. He said that action should be taken against the people involved in these heinous crimes in the light of those proposals.—PPI
