13 killed in Kurram Agency clashes

PARACHINAR, Aug 10: Thirteen people, including two militant commanders, were killed and 30 others were injured in fierce clashes between two tribal groups in the Kurram Agency on Sunday.

The clashes between local

Tori tribe and a religious group began after some miscreants set on fire a tractor trolley carrying household goods in Bilyamin area.

The injured were taken to hospitals in Parachinar, Alizai and Sadda areas.

Miscreants also kidnapped 10 people in the area. Ten people have been kidnapped in the area.

The warring factions are targeting each other’s positions with light and heavy weapons, including missiles, mortars and rockets.

The building of an FM radio station and over 50 houses were completely destroyed in villages of Thagano, Ismail Khan, Kandao, Gul Mohammad, and Katch on Sunday because of heavy shelling.

Security forces pounded hideouts of militants and bunkers of Tori tribesmen.

In the border area of Peuwar, clashes between Tori and Mangal tribes have been continuing for five months.

Parachinar is cut off from the rest of the country for 10 months, causing serious shortages of food and medicines.

Two children are reported to have died in Jalandhri and Ibrahim Zai areas because of non-availability of medicines.
