Copters in relief flights to Rajanpur


LAHORE, Aug 10: Relief activities continued for the third day on Sunday in flood-affected areas in Rajanpur district wherein helicopters supplied essential food items to the stranded people on the direction of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

As many as 2,121 flour bags and 1,000 bottles of mineral water have been so far dispatched to affected areas through 25 flights of helicopters.

Secretary Relief Punjab Rizwanullah Baig, Senior Member Board of Revenue Safdar Javed, DPO Dr Rizwan Ahmad, DO (C), Syed Agha Hussain Shah and DOR Malik Muhammad Ramzan are supervising the relief activities.

The first flight was sent to Basti Sindhi Lashari (Harand) where 82 bags of dry ration were distributed. The second flight was sent to Basti Lakha and Basti Urani with 105 bags of dry ration, third flight to Nuri City, Nurpur Sajhuwala and Kanuwala where 90 bags were distributed in the presence of MPA Sardar Athar Hassan Gorchani and Sardar Hasamuddin Khan Gorchani.

The fourth flight reached Rojhan with 100 bags of dry ration which were distributed among the affected people by the Secretary Relief Punjab.

Similarly, the fifth flight arrived at surrounding areas of Rojhan with 112 bags of relief items which were distributed in the presence of MNA Sardar Dost Muhammad Khan Mazari and MPA Athar Hassan Khan Gorchani.

Two more flights carrying 164 bags were dispatched to various affected areas in the district. The eighth flight reached Basti Urani with 50 bags, ninth flight to Thele Mid Makool with 60 bags were distributed by Sardar Farooq Khan Dreshak and Sardar Siddique Khan Dreshak to the displaced people.

The tenth flight distributed 61 bags among the affectees in Muhammadpur Gamwala while the eleventh flight was dispatched to Basti Zulfiqar Sukhera where 50 bags were distributed.

The twelfth flight left for Mud Gujjar/Mud Ghummra where ration was distributed in the presence of Kalim Khan Dreshak and DSP (Cantt) Mehr Nasir Sial.

At least 70 bags of ration were taken through 13th flight and were distributed in the presence of Sardar Siddique Dreshak in various areas under floods.

Moreover, 110 bags were dispatched to Dumra, 130 bags and 110 bottles of mineral water to Basti Sehal Chand, 130 bottles and 150 bags to Chak Ahmadani and 150 bottles and as many bags to Veni Khosa, 135 bags and as many bottles to Chak Sarai.

While 200 bags and 200 bottles of mineral water were distributed in other flood-hit areas.

The relief activities will continue for several days.
