NWFP govt to ‘maintain writ’

PESHAWAR, Aug 10: Parties in the NWFP ruling coalition parties have decided to politically tackle insurgency in tribal areas, but insisted that the government’s writ will be maintained at all costs.

The decision was taken at a meeting held here on Saturday under Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti. It was attended by ANP’s provincial chief Afrasiab Khattak, parliamentary leaders, including senior ministers Bashir Ahmad Bilour and Rahimdad Khan, PML-N’s provincial president Pir Sabir Shah, senators, ministers and MNAs.

The meeting discussed the law and order situation in the province and Fata and agreed to resolve the issue of militancy by continuing talks, executing development projects and using force against militants if necessary.
