Holmes takes halfway lead at PGA event


BLOOMFIELD HILLS (Michigan), Aug 9: Long-hitting American J.B. Holmes posted an early two-under-par 68 to claim a one-shot lead after two rounds of the PGA Championship on Friday.

Briton Justin Rose, South Korean Charlie Wi and American Ben Curtis were tied at level-par 140, one better than American David Toms and Sweden’s Henrik Stenson on the tough Oakland Hills layout which was playing lightning fast.

Leading second-round scores:

139 – J.B. Holmes (US) 71, 68.

140 – Charlie Wi (South Korea) 70, 70; Ben Curtis (US) 73, 67; Justin Rose (Britain) 73, 67. 141 – David Toms (US) 72, 69; Henrik Stenson (Sweden) 71, 70.
