Gastroenteritis breaks out

SHIKARPUR, Aug 9: Due to the unhygienic conditions after the recent rains, gastroenteritis and other diseases have broken out in the city and other talukas of the district.

According to reports more than 30 patients infected by gastroenteritis have been brought to the Civil Hospital Shikarpur during past three days.

Besides, more than 50 gastroenteritis patients have been registered at taluka hospitals and other health centres of the district.

The people of the district have demanded of the district nazim and taluka municipal administrations to carry out fumigation in the city and rural areas to protect people from diseases.

SHOT DEAD: A 35-year-old villager, Manzoor, son of Baksh Ali Jaffery, of village Nando Khandoro, was gunned down by two armed men on motorcycle near Ratto Shakh within the limits of Dakhan police station on Saturday.

The motive behind the murder is said to be an ongoing dispute over a piece of agricultural land.

The dispute has so far claimed 15 lives, including women from both sides. No FIR was registered till the filing of this report.
