Lecturers seek salary

SUKKUR, Aug 9: More than two dozen ad hoc lecturers took out a protest rally and staged a sit-in outside the press club here on Saturday. They were demanding disbursement of salaries and regularisation of their jobs.

Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association had organised the protest. The protesters marched from Government Islamia Arts and Commerce College and reached the press club.

Speaking on the occasion they said the former government had regularised all ad hoc lecturers in NWFP, Balochistan and the Punjab but ad hoc lecturers in Sindh were still awaiting regularisation.

They said the government used to stop their salaries as soon as their contract is expired and they have to wait for months to get their salaries. They demanded of the Sindh government to regularise ad hoc lecturers and disburse their salaries.

WOMAN KILLED: An elderly woman was killed by her nephew on the pretext of karo-kari in village Sher Khan Buriro in Mirpur Buriro police limits near Thull on Saturday.

Manzoor Ahmed Buriro opened fire on his aunt Mst. Badshah Zadi on the pretext of karo-kari and fled. Mirpur Buriro police shifted the body to taluka hospital Thull for post mortem.
